📺 My Facebook Live Series debuts!

I'm excited to announce that starting tomorrow I'll be hosting a 4-week web series on computer science and equity. Each show will be live and 30 minutes long on Tuesday nights at 8:30 pm CST on my twitter, YouTube, or Facebook page. I'd love for some of my subscribers to join and interact! Your questions and responses could end up on the air!

First episode is May 4th and then every Tuesday night after that.

🚦STOP calling it Learning Loss

The term "Learning Loss" has really bothered me this year more than most. I wanted a better phrase for all that we've been going through and decided that we should instead call it "Learning Realignment". As a result, I wrote this quick blog post with 5 points centered around the concept of Learning Alignment. I hope you'll check it out and give me some feedback if this is the right direction we should be heading in education.

💻Webinar on Computer Science w/$20 GrubHub Gift Cards!

One thing I've been passionate about is getting computer science into the hands of ALL students. I think this pandemic has really highlighted the differences between the haves and have-nots. That gap is only widened when you consider that students with the most access to computer science curriculum live in high-socio-economic areas that can afford camps and high-end machines. This Thursday I'll be tackling this issue along with special guests from around the country in a FREE webinar from 12-1pm CST. Those that participate and join will also have a chance to win one of many $20 GrubHub Gift cards....So come make it a Lunch n' Learn!

💰End of Year Trivia Night!

Who's ready for some fun and an opportunity to win some prizes? The folks at NetRef have agreed to sponsor a FREE trivia night on May 20th at 6pm CST with a bonus. Those that register will be invited to share their funny stories about remote learning this year. The best stories will be shared (anonymously) throughout the night with the winners receiving a gift card. We'll also do random drawings and prizes for the top trivia winners...all for FREE thanks to NetRef. So come have some fun, reflect, and laugh at this incredibly "interesting" past school year.

🤣 Meme of the Month

Of course it has to be about May 4th and Star Wars!

☀️Webinar Series about Summer Learning

Later this month (the week of May 17th) I'll be partnering with the non-profit Waterford.org to host a 5-part webinar series with a variety of special guests and hosts. The main topic will be about this upcoming summer and how do we begin to "realign" with our students in terms of what the future of schools will look like. No link as of yet, but once it's live I'll send it your way if you'd like to join either one or many of the webinars that week.

❓Question of the Month

I would love some thoughts on this. Just send me a reply if you have feedback:

Instead of focusing on "learning loss" what should we be focusing on in schools going forward?

Thank you all...we've almost made it!
